These windows continue the theme of the Mirror The World SS16 show. We are all responsible for the consequences of our actions and there repercussions on the global ecosystem. This Mirror The World installation draws the viewer into a fragmented and fragile composition where kinetic distortions amplified by folds exaggerate the vulnerability of the symbiotic whole. The images recall some of the paintings of Paul Nash.

The new Milan store by architects Fortebis. I can understand what the architects were trying to achieve here where the store is inspired by the collections, multi-layered, checks on stripes, mixed materials. The shelving units do this well but the store ends up quite busy. The main difficulty in designing a Westwood store is that it becomes retail. There is a dilemma between professionalism and theatricality. I would be bias towards Westwood stores stepping away from conventional retail and moving towards electronic theatrical event spaces. Simultaneous stages across the globe where performance and performers meet and are recorded. Each space a new vignette that could be layered upon the last building a space similar to the sets of a Greenaway film. I have no idea how this would work with sales but what a wonderful experiment to mix film, event and space.

Xmas window designs for this year were kept simple.

Vivienne Westwood’s Alice In Wonderland book launch set for the Japan store. I was responsible for the design and preparation of the event. There was a huge turn out and it was a very memorable night.

Today I won the Visual Merchandising Award for Best Boutique Window for the Alice install and book reading by Vivienne. The Award was presented by Julian Clary. This is the second time I have won and its good to know all the effort is appreciated by my peers. Thank you all.
